Betty’s Split Pea SoupOld family recipe served every year at Christmas (made from le over Honey Baked ham bone)Submitted by: Matthew DreyerINGREDIENTS1 lb of green split peas 1 ham hock10 cups of water1⁄2 a chopped celery2 cloves garlic1⁄2 a cup of sliced green onions 2 tsp of salt1 tsp of dillDIRECTIONS• Wash peas• Place the peas in a large pot or bowl, cover with water by 2 inches, and soak8 hours or overnight.• Add water and ham hock to a large pot• Bring water to a boil• Stir in peas, celery, green onions, garlic, and salt• Gently boil until tender• Add more water as needed, if the soup becomes too thick or dry• Add dill once dish is fully cookedSOUPS & SALADS69
