Angel BiscuitsThe only time these biscuits are “legal” is over the holidays. My mother used to make them on Christmas morning.Submitted by: Penny FondyINGREDIENTS1 pkg of dry yeast1⁄4 cup of warm water2 cups of buttermilk5 cups of all purpose flour 1 tbsp of baking powder 1 tsp of baking soda1 tsp of salt1⁄4 cup of sugar1 cup of Crisco shorteningDIRECTIONS• Combine yeast and water; let stand 5 minutes. Add buttermilk to yeast mixture and set aside.• Combine flour and next four ingredients in a large mixing bowl; cut in shortening and add buttermilk mixture, stirring just until moist. Turn dough onto floured surface and knead four to five times. Shape into ball and refrigerate at least 2 hours.• Preheat oven to 400˚F.• Roll dough to 1⁄2 inch thickness and cut out biscuits using small biscuitcutter.• Bake for 13-15 minutes.BREAKFAST, BRUNCH & BREADS11
